Sopore, Nov 01 (KNO): Mudasir Ahmed Bhat has been re-elected as the President of the Buyers Union, Fruit Mandi Sopore, securing his third term in office after elections were held on Saturday.
The election, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), saw an active contest among three candidates. Out of 362 total votes, 347 were polled. Mudasir Ahmed Bhat secured 188 votes, followed by Nazir Ahmed Ganie with 107 votes and Abdul Rashid Reshi with 50. Two votes were rejected.
The elections, originally scheduled for 2024, were delayed due to unavoidable circumstances. During the interim period, a board was managing the affairs of the association.
Speaking to KNO, Mudasir expressed gratitude to his supporters for reposing faith in his leadership. “I dedicate this victory to my people. The trust they placed in my past work has brought me back with greater responsibility. I assure them that I will continue to work tirelessly for the welfare of our traders and the development of the Mandi. I won’t let them down,” Mudasir said—(KNO)
